WILLIAMS Toward the Unknown Region
MOZART Requiem

New World Symphony reunites with the Master Chorale of South Florida for an evening of mysterious masterworks for orchestra and chorus. Vaughan Williams’ Toward the Unknown Region is a choral adaptation of a Walt Whitman poem that ponders boundless futures. Conductor Stephanie Childress leads the forever-young New World Symphony in bringing fresh energy to Mozart’s Requiem, a choral epic that proved to be the composer’s last. Mozart fell ill while writing the famous Lacrimosa of his funeral mass, sparking rumors of a deadly rivalry immortalized in the Oscar-winning film Amadeus.
