Program to be determined.
Yo-Yo Ma is “a musician of extraordinary humanity and grace” (The New York Times). His multifaceted career is a testament to his belief in culture’s power to generate trust and understanding. Ma is admired worldwide for his exceptional artistry and ability to connect with audiences across musical traditions. A winner of 20 Grammy Awards whose career spans more than six decades, this celebrated musician—arguably the most famous cellist in the world—has recorded 120 albums, ranging from iconic renditions of the Western classical canon to recordings that defy categorization, from Six Evolutions, his third recording of Bach’s cello suites, to the Goat Rodeo Sessions with Stuart Duncan, Edgar Meyer and Chris Thile.
Now, Ma returns to the Knight Concert Hall for the first time since 2018 for an evening of revelatory collaborations with young American pianist Solon Gordon, a sensitive and insightful accompanist praised for his refined and expressive musicality who also happens to be a software engineer.
