This work is inspired by Kristen, who has traveled the difficult journey of cancer diagnosis and treatment. It reflects what it means to face illness, uncertainty and fear while continuing to hold on to hope, possibility and resilience. At the center of the work is Kristen’s determination not to give up. Her strength is also found in the way she supports others, keeps people’s spirits up and continues to find positivity even in difficult circumstances. Her experience has become a reflection of her journey and a reminder of how important family, community and emotional support can be. Cancer forces a different understanding of time. Work, stress and everyday responsibilities can make it difficult to focus on health, family and personal fulfillment. After confronting the fragility of life so directly, priorities can change. Time becomes more meaningful, as does the desire to live with greater awareness, less stress and more intention. Miami is an important part of this reflection. Its light, warmth and sense of possibility offer a place to step outside, breathe and keep moving forward. Ultimately, this work is about resilience, survival and what it means to come through a difficult experience with a renewed appreciation for life, connection and the possibilities that remain.
