This piece is a celebration of resilience, crafted as a testament to a journey through cancer. Inspired by the spirit of a courageous individual currently navigating their own path of healing, this artwork integrates the symbolic language of mandalas, hummingbirds and flowers to represent the sentiment of my inspiration and the beauty that unfolds during her transformation. The mandala serves as the foundation of this work—an intricate, cyclical meditation on wholeness and the reclamation of self amid life’s most difficult transitions. Just as the hummingbird navigates its world with lightness, speed and vibrant color, this piece reflects the capacity to find joy, grace and persistent movement even when faced with adversity. The inclusion of delicate, blooming flowers signifies growth, the unfolding of new life and the enduring strength found in vulnerability. By merging these elements, this work seeks to offer a visual sanctuary for Twist Out Cancer, a reflection on the idea that even through life’s most turbulent twists, there is profound light, pattern and beauty to be found in the ongoing process of growing through.

SandraAlbornoz.comTwist on Cancer: In 2015, I was diagnosed with a supremely rare cancer called pseudomyxoma peritonei. I have had seven surgeries, suffered very intense pain, lost more than six organs and have more than 17 scars. I work on many projects simultaneously; the main one is an emotional growth group called Círculo de Gotas de Amor – Loving Drops Circle. I am also a mother, wife, daughter, artist, writer of a beautiful book called Gotas de Amor that's available on Amazon, speaker and other things. For me, going through cancer is a learning opportunity. I clearly see a before and after. I now live my life with infinite gratitude for who I am and everything and everyone around me. I try to stay focused on my purpose, and understand that it depends on me how to react to each of the challenges that life offers me. If I am here, it is because I still have a lot to give and receive, and my desire is to live each day fully, with happiness and the conviction that I am not alone, that I have always been and will continue to be guided by God and accompanied by my angels.
