Synopsis
A new play by Michael McKeever
Directed by Stuart Meltzer
In 1977, Dade County Commissioner Ruth Shack sponsored a pioneering ordinance banning discrimination against homosexuals. Over the next five months, a campaign led by singer Anita Bryant attempted to overturn the ruling. This battle transformed American gay-rights activism and galvanized religious-conservative efforts against the queer community. This is the story of the people behind the headlines.
