Hamlet
Peru
Escrito por/Written by W. Shakespeare
Adaptado por/Free adaptation by Chela De Ferrari
Dirigido por/Directed by Chela De Ferrari
Teatro de La Plaza’s Hamlet has been touring Europe, Latin America and the United States, earning awards, extending its international runs and leaving thousands of spectators with a different way of seeing the human being.
A group of people with Down syndrome take the stage to share their hopes and frustrations through a free adaptation of Hamlet. The play weaves together Shakespeare’s text with the lives of the actors, using as its starting point the question that is posed about existence: To be or not to be? What does it mean “to be” for those who struggle to find spaces where they are acknowledged and included?
