Vuela (meaning “fly”) is performed by Sara Baras together with 13 dancers and musicians. It takes audiences on a journey of 15 unique pieces across four acts revolving around a different word: Wood, Sea, Death and Fly – each of which guides a powerful narrative through movement.
Sara Baras is one of Spain’s most prestigious flamenco dancers and has presented 17 different shows in five continents, visiting more than 40 countries around the world. She is a cultural ambassador who has introduced flamenco to audiences worldwide, helping secure its place as one of Spain’s greatest exports. Her impact has transcended the stage in remarkable ways: Baras has been immortalized as a Barbie doll – the first ever Spanish artist honored with that distinction – and was honored on a Spanish national coin, cementing her status as a national treasure.
Starting two hours prior to each Sara Baras performance, the public is invited to experience flamenco-themed activities for free on the Thomson Plaza for the Arts, including live dance, vibrant music, interactive workshops and cultural activities. Spanish-themed finger foods and a signature cocktail, Rosé Olé, will be available for purchase
