Rock Odyssey is a fast and funny theatrical adaptation of Homer’s Odyssey that transforms the epic work into a rock musical for students. Students travel from the heights of Mount Olympus to the darkest Mediterranean caves with all the great characters from the greatest adventure tale of them all: the warrior Odysseus; his smart and soulful wife, Penelope; his boy-band wannabe son Telemachus; the powerful gods Zeus, Athena and Poseidon; the one-eyed monster Cyclops; and the magical temptress Circe.

More than a one-time trip to the Arsht Center, Rock Odyssey equips teachers with lesson plans and workshops that will help them use innovative drama concepts to teach reading, math and other core subjects back in the classroom.

In October 2021, Rock Odyssey will be presented virtually for the first time, and will be available to all grade levels.

Rock Odyssey was created by Emmy Award-winning composer Billy Straus and Kleban Award-winning playwright Stephen Cole. It is directed and choreographed by Emmy- and Parent’s Choice Award-winning Douglas Love.
