Live at Knight Belle and Sebastian

Belle and Sebastian recorded their first album in three days and their second album in about a week. The band, then and now based in Glasgow, Scotland, released the albums within six months of each other in 1996. These are not rush jobs, however. Tigermilk and If You’re Feeling Sinister are carefully woven, fully realized, patiently delivered albums about love, loneliness and desire that became critical hits, modest financial successes and benchmark recordings in the history of indie-rock. The band’s literary aesthetic and dedication to storytelling—co-founder and bandleader Stuart Murdoch is also a novelist and filmmaker—are evident in their character-driven songs and readily identifiable album covers, which often feature monochromatic photographs of fashionable and attractive young people.

Belle and Sebastian will celebrate their 30th anniversary at the Arsht with a performance of If You’re Feeling Sinister in its entirety, along with songs from across the band’s career. The group, which currently includes seven members, released their most recent album, Late Developers, in 2023. This concert will mark Belle and Sebastian’s first appearance in Miami in more than a decade.
