Twist on Cancer: Cancer turned my world upside down, but it also taught me to see life in a way I never imagined. At first, it felt like everything was being taken from me—my health, my strength, my sense of control. But over time, I realized cancer wasn’t just an ending; it was also a beginning.
I learned that true strength isn’t about how much you can lift or how fast you can move—it’s about showing up when you want to quit, about finding light even when the days feel impossibly heavy.
Cancer taught me to slow down and appreciate the smallest details—the warmth of a sunrise, the comfort of laughter, the power of love from family and friends. It gave me a new perspective: that life isn’t measured by how long we have, but by how deeply we live.
Now, I choose to live with purpose. I want people to know that even in the face of something as terrifying as cancer, hope can still grow. Your story doesn’t end with a diagnosis—it just turns a page. And sometimes, the chapters that follow are the most meaningful of all.

“The Simple Things”
Oil and acrylic on canvas
16” x 20”
Artist Statement: Meeting my inspiration, Jay, has echoed the quote “the simple things.” As people in life, we sometimes overlook those simple beautiful moments when life gets overwhelming. But when we sit in the stillness of life, we realize the peace we yearn for, we just may already have. Within ourselves, in our homes and our comforted spaces. This painting reflects that moment of peace through the love of music, family and God. To Jay, may you and your family continue to heal and embody the true strength you have, even on the tough days.
