This summer, Miami artist Typoe painted a performing arts-themed mural on the historic Carnival Tower at the Arsht. Titled "Paper Stage (Allegory of Life"), the bold, geometric work was commissioned by the Arsht for its 1300 Projects visual arts series. Typoe says the piece is based on 19th century toy theaters, small shadow boxes in which children staged plays using miniature sets, paper dolls and detailed, panoramic sheets. The mural is not the first Arsht commission for Typoe, whose work is in the permanent collections of the Pérez Art Museum Miami and the Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh. He has also designed the 2025 Arsht Awards and the 2024 Arsht holiday card.
