The Adrienne Arsht Center's Heritage Committee is proud to present the fourth annual Juneteenth Juke Joint!

Juneteenth Juke Joint pays homage to the rich history of Black music, culture and food in the American South. For generations, our country's "second Independence Day" has been celebrated with gatherings, cookouts, music, laughter and pride in Black freedom. We seek to create a space for Black joy and maintain an ever-present, always-developing sense of community.

The W's

Performer

Whether lighting up a stage with high-energy entertainment or setting the vibe in an unplugged lounge, this husband-and-wife musical duo always deliver. Chadwick Watkins, bringing soul, funk and rock flavor, and Brittany Starr James-Watkins, a soul-pop, nu-disco dancing queen, create the kind of chemistry you feel in your bones. Their goal is simple: Catch a good vibe and go with it.

Life in recent years has brought serious challenges, and The W’s have lived them, too. Chadwick experienced a life-changing event that deepened the group’s mission. Now, The W’s are more than a band—they’re a movement to leave no stone unturned in connecting with their audience and every person who discovers their music, hears their story or catches a show. Their performances are more than entertainment—they’re moments of heart, healing and connection.

From intimate duo sets to 10-piece band performances, The W’s take audiences on a genre-bending journey with old-school soul, rock classics and reimagined Top 40 dance hits. Every song is a certified crowd-pleaser with a twist.
DJ Cardi

Performer

DJ Cardi is known for his signature blend of funk, hip-hop, disco and house. It’s an infectious mix that keeps dance floors moving and spirits lifted. He has performed at high-profile events such as the Formula 1 Grand Prix, the Pegasus World Cup, the Miami Open and Miami Heat pregame shows at the Kaseya Center. He is also a go-to DJ for celebrity clients and movie premieres at the Sundance, Cannes and Toronto film festivals.

Forbes has called Cardi “one of Miami’s style icons.” He has curated soundscapes for iconic brands such as Armani, Dolce and Gabbana and Vogue.

As a music director, he elevates his performances with live instrumentation, creating unforgettable experiences that blur the line between a DJ set and a concert. Whether spinning solo or with his band, Cardi aims to spread good vibes and inspire people through the power of music.
David H. Hepburn

Performer

David H. Hepburn is a cast member of Just the Funny Theater and Training Center. He is a founding member of Black Improv Alliance, Miami’s premier African American musical improv team. He has a background in visual arts and film, including attending The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science and Art. He brings his cinematic vision to bear onstage through considerable range, diverse characters and dynamic physicality. Whether performing dramatic scenes, improvised songs or freestyle rhymes, Hepburn tackles his work with vigor and vitality.
Shanae Gibson

Chef

Shanae Gibson is a sous chef with more than 10 years of experience. She enjoys cooking for others, and is always the first to be asked to cook for family events. She makes dishes with love. Her passion for cooking started while preparing dishes with her grandfather. She has advanced from being a dishwasher to a junior chef and sous chef. She has worked with many talented chefs, and has had the pleasure of catering events.
Zion Rozier

Zion Rozier: "As a kid growing up in Miami, I experienced loss and trauma early on. I lost a close friend to gun violence. That pain stayed with me, but so did the gift that came from it: art. Therapy introduced me to creating, and that became my peace. Now, I create to express gratitude for life and to inspire others who’ve been through darkness. My work is a reminder that even in hard times, light, joy and beauty still exist. I’m building a career rooted in healing, passion and purpose, showing the world that you can turn your pain into power and your story into impact."
