French music authority and music director of the St. Louis Symphony, Stéphane Denève and New World Symphony explore the musical imaginations of famed composers and the inspiration behind their celebrated works in this exclusive evening at the Arsht Center.

Despite only spending a few hours in Spain, Claude Debussy vividly and brilliantly captured the country’s intoxicating culture in his Ibéria. With delicate melodies and vibrating rhythms, his shimmering Nocturnes were inspired by American painter James McNeill Whistler. The second movement of Ludwig van Beethoven’s Seventh Symphony is one of classical music’s most poignant and popular works. Its haunting melodies are reimagined in Carlos Simon’s Fate Now Conquers.
