Miami, FL – April 7, 2026 – The Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County (@arshtcenter) is proud to present LIVE FROM EMMET’S PLACE, the stage version of the beloved pandemic-era livestream series created by Miami-born pianist and Frost School of Music alum EMMET COHEN (@heyemmet). Cohen created the wildly popular Live from Emmet’s Place livestream series during the pandemic, bringing world-class jazz into homes around the world. Across platforms, Live from Emmet’s Place has garnered over 100 million views with some of the genre’s biggest names dropping in as guest artists, including Samara Joy, Christian McBride and Paquito D’Rivera, to name a few. Cohen and his trio recreate the magic live on stage, transforming the Knight Concert Hall into a vibrant, living-room-style jam session complete with spontaneous energy, top-tier musicianship, and surprise guest artists in this stunning conclusion to the 2025-26 season of Jazz Roots at the Arsht.

Live From Emmet’s Place is a livestream series created by Cohen during the pandemic and broadcast from his Harlem apartment that united a worldwide audience via tens of millions of internet views. Evoking the spirit of historic rent parties while employing sophisticated modern production, the series quickly became a global gathering place for artists and listeners alike, setting a new standard for live internet jazz performance.

 

About the Emmet Cohen Trio

Emmet Cohen is widely regarded as a leading jazz pianist of his generation and a defining force in the evolution of the art form. A virtuoso musician, producer, and bandleader, he combines deep respect for jazz tradition with a singular ability to create connection, community, and momentum in the modern era.

 

Cohen has released 12 albums as a leader and is the producer and creative force behind Live From Emmet’s Place, a landmark series comprising over 140 two-hour livestream performances featuring hundreds of musicians spanning generations and reaching more than 100 million views worldwide. The series continues from Power Station NYC, having grown from an intimate broadcast into a global cultural platform.

 

Cohen has performed in over 40 countries, serves as host of The Jazz Cruise and a member of its programming team, and he has been chosen as artistic partner of the 2027 American Piano Awards. He was named DownBeat Readers Poll Pianist of the Year (2025) and, in 2023, received both Pianist of the Year and Livestream Producer of the Year honors from the Jazz Journalists Association.

 

Patrick Bartley, Jr. is a GRAMMY-nominated saxophonist, multi-instrumentalist, and bandleader from Hollywood, Florida who is known for his boundless versatility, virtuosic technique and expressive vocal-like sound. Since moving to New York City, Patrick has performed and recorded with some of the greatest musical masters in the world, including Wynton Marsalis, Jon Batiste, Emmet Cohen, Larry Grenadier, Steve Miller, Herbie Hancock, Louis Hayes, Carole King, Jimmy Cobb, Marquis Hill, Bobby Sanabria, Marcus Printup, and many others. Patrick is currently most known for his appearances on the multi-million-viewed Live from Emmet's Place YouTube sessions, as well as for starting the J-MUSIC Ensemble, a band dedicated to examining the world of modern Japanese music through the lens of jazz. Since its inception, J-MUSIC has garnered millions of views and hundreds of thousands of fans worldwide and has led to Patrick connecting and working with some of the greatest names in modern Japanese music, such as Sayaka Yamamoto, sasakure.UK, Donna Burke, Awich, Miho Hazama, and more.

 

Bruce Harris is a trumpeter, educator, and curator from the Bronx whose warm tone, melodic clarity, and deep-rooted connection to Black American music have made him one of the most compelling voices of his generation. A skilled bandleader and storyteller, Harris has released acclaimed recordings including Soundview, Beginnings, and Thank You, Barry Harris, a tribute to his mentor that showcases his deep understanding of bebop, blues, and swing. He has collaborated with leading artists such as Wynton Marsalis, Emmet Cohen, Jazzmeia Horn, Samara Joy, and Melissa Errico, appearing on celebrated recordings and stages ranging from the Village Vanguard to the Monterey and Detroit Jazz Festivals. In addition to his performance career, Harris is the creator and host of the YouTube series To Be or Not to Bop, a listening-focused show dedicated to deep engagement with classic and lesser-known jazz recordings. Through close listening, historical context, and musician-centered analysis, the series invites both seasoned listeners and new audiences into the richness of the jazz tradition. Harris currently serves as Artistic Director of Programs at the Louis Armstrong House Museum, where he leads initiatives including the Armstrong Now series and the Louis Armstrong Big Band. Through his work as a performer, educator, curator, and media creator, he remains committed to preserving the legacy of jazz while inspiring its future.
