LIVE ON THE PLAZA: NEGRONI’S TRIO WITH SPECIAL GUEST ELLI CLARKE

Thomson Plaza for the Arts

NEGRONI'S TRIO is a 3-time Latin Grammy-nominated jazz piano trio comprised of José Negroni on piano and keyboards, his son, Nomar Negroni (a Berklee College of Music graduate) on drums and percussion, and American bassist Josh Allen (graduate of the Frost School of Music, University of Miami). The Negroni father-and-son team have worked together since 2002 as co-founders and co-producers to form an ensemble of master musicians who create their own unique voice in traditionally known jazz classics, Latin jazz and jazz fusion. Taking musical risks with performance and repertoire, the result is an array of classic lyricism mixed with innovative and sincere improvisations that quenches their audience’s thirst for world-class jazz. Negroni’s Trio has performed across the United States and at international jazz festivals.

Joining Negroni’s Trio will be veteran jazz singer ELLI CLARKE. She has performed with artists such as Claudia Acuña, New York City Swing Orchestra, The Ray Cohen Orchestra, The Empire Orchestra, Joe Raposo, Johnny Ventura, Celia Cruz, Henry Jimenez and Carlos Ponce. Elli and José Negroni are currently in the studio finishing up her long-awaited album, due to be released in early 2022.

The SCONE CASH PLAYERS arrive with force and fury. It is a mission to bring the purist, most soulful, dynamic and funky organ music to the people of the world. Think about the best breakbeats and the most screaming organ combined to make a truly unique sound that is the SCONE CASH PLAYERS.

Organist ADAM SCONE draws from his vast experience working with soul legends Daptone Records artists The Sugarman Three, Lee Fields, Naomi Shelton & Sharon Jones. He has also backed up Jazz and Boogaloo legends Lou Donaldson, Melvin Sparks and Ben Dixon. This background fuels his band to the hardest-driving soul-psychedelia possible. Guatemala’s DOCTOR NATIVO is one of Central America’s most exciting new talents. His music layers Mayan spirituality, social activism and folk wisdom over a propulsive, popular sound combining reggae, cumbia, hip hop and pre-Columbian instruments. His debut album, Guatemaya, is a call for social justice for his country’s indigenous majority. It came out on Guatemalan Independence Day, September 15, 2018 and was presented at Lincoln Center in New York City by Stonetree Records.
