Third World's founding percussionist Willie Stewart presents his specially selected youth ensemble in a performance of Rhythms of Africa / Music Around the World, a musical journey that describes the movement of ancient rhythms sprung from the souls of vibrant cultures and carried by hand and heart from Africa to the Caribbean and the Americas. The talented troupe from Big Brothers Big Sisters of Miami, intensely instructed for 9 weeks, join a band of internationally renowned artists and musicians to celebrate the pulse and rhythms of the African Diaspora. Seasoned by time, cultivated and rooted by generations of pilgrims, these familiar rhythms thrill and invigorate contemporary audiences of all ages.
