KNIGHT CONCERT HALL [View Seat Map]

In honor of Universal Children's Day, passionate South Florida youth will present "Ideas Worth Spreading" at TEDxYouth@Miami, a local TEDx Youth Day celebration. It's a speaker's forum... but wait!! It's not some boring stage presentation. Instead, passionate local youth, ages 10-23, hand-selected from public and private schools and universities, will share their own personal stories of resolve, struggle and ultimately inspiration. Amazing stories and performances include:

  • • A resilient 18-year-old Spoken Word artist whose foster care upbringing inspires her to remind us that life, with all the challenges it may bring, is a precious gift.

  • • An 11-year-old's life with autism brings many blessings, both to him and those who come to know him. His obstacles are embraced like friends, empowering him to teach first-hand how such challenges can shape a person's contributions to society.

  • • South Florida is taking a page from a volunteer orchestra training program in Venezuela that teaches about 350,000 poor children music skills, which alter lives and inspire hope. Hearing Miami Music Project's first "El Sistema-inspired" music program is to understand how the education and practice of classical music can bring about social change.

  • • Young tap dancers from Thomas Armour Youth Ballet show how crucial life skills can be achieved through the simple, repetitive practice of the signature tap shuffle.
