“Spectacular, sensuous and breathtaking!” – The New York Times
Direct from Buenos Aires! A thrilling aerial spectacular that has been performed in more than 100 cities around the world, 8CHO (pronounced "Ocho") will dazzle Miami audiences this summer as it makes its South Florida premiere at the Adrienne Arsht Center.
The Ziff Ballet Opera House will be transformed into a “sexy, exhilarating, gravity-defying world” (Ottawa Citizen) by more than a dozen aerialists, dancers and musicians who perform entire routines in the air. Suspended on ropes high above the stage, performers leap, swivel and fly through the air, creating a sultry kaleidoscopic of movement and action set to an achingly cool original hip-hop and tango-infused score performed by a live orchestra.
Incorporating the various rhythms of Argentina’s most beloved musical style and inspired by a famous tango step by the same name, 8CHO was created by Argentina’s superstar choreographer Brenda Angiel and is performed by the virtuosic Brenda Angiel Aerial Dance Company. Brenda Angiel and her company have traveled the world, performing in the Netherlands, Italy, Mexico, Canada, Colombia, Costa Rica Chile, Argentina, Boston, and New York City and at some of most prestigious festivals in the United States, including the Spoleto Festival, Kennedy Center’s Americartes Festival, and the American Dance Festival, to name a few.
