YELP’S A PLAY & A PINT
Saturday, October 12 - 3pm

Peanut butter and jelly. Ying and Yang. Theater and beer? Sounds about right! The Arsht Center has teamed up with Yelp to present "A Play & A Pint" -- a series of events to celebrate the Theater Up Close season in the Carnival Studio Theater.

Join us for the first event of the series with "Metamorphoses" and a post-show pint at Spris Pizza Downtown.

TICKETS! Use promo code PLAY&PINT to get your $25 ticket to the first event of the season for Metamorphoses* on Saturday, October 12 for the 3pm show. Then just  bring your ticket stub to Spris Pizza Downtown for a complimentary pint of Peroni.

About A PLAY & A PINT
Why theater and beer? Beyond the snarky "why not" response, we want to encourage post-show dialogue about each of the shows in this avant-guarde, experimental theater series. With A Play & A Pint events, you can get "up close" to the action in the theater and then again over a pint. And, of course, we want to hear all about your experience, which is why we've partnered up with Yelp. See the show, grab a beer to talk about it, then post about it on Yelp! See you "up close" soon!

CARNIVAL STUDIO THEATER

Based on the myths of Ovid.
Written and originally directed by Mary Zimmerman.
Directed by Henry Fonte.
Presented in partnership with UM Department of Theatre Arts.

"A glimpse of the divine!" - Time magazine
"A rare work of theatrical genius that deserves wide exposure to a new generation!" - The Chicago Tribune

Winner of the 2002 Tony Award for "Best Direction of a Play" and the Drama Desk Award for "Outstanding Play," Mary Zimmerman's Metamorphoses  makes its much-anticipated regional premiere as part of the Arsht Center's 2013-2014 Theater Up Close Season.

Fifteen years ago Metamorphoses debuted, a play of such grace and beauty that the memory of it still lingers in the minds of audiences today. In the simple beauty of a four-foot rippling pool of water, American playwright and original director Mary Zimmerman conjures Ovid's classic myths – Eros and Psyche, Midas, Orpheus and Eurydice, Narcissus and more – into 11 vignettes boasting gorgeous imagery, provocative moments and breathtaking storytelling.

As part of the multi-faceted collaboration between the University of Miami Department of Theatre Arts and the Arsht Center, this production will serve as a professional learning experience that offers the theater majors at the university an opportunity to work with seasoned professionals in creating a professional production. Miami's hottest regional theater actors join UM's talented student actors to create more than 50 characters, bringing the Greek myths to life. Students majoring in technical theater and design will work side-by-side with the Arsht Center/UM production and creative team to create a professional set, costumes and lighting design and will assist the production manager, stage manager and other key production staff members.

This show contains adult content.

There is no intermission in this show, there is splashing water throughout, however. We encourage you to use the restroom prior to the show.

Water is an integral part of this show; there may be splashing into the front row. Seating is first-come-first-served and the floor will be wet upon exit, please keep this in mind when choosing your shoes for the evening.
