The staff at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County hosted a Harvest Festival for colleagues, board members and partners to unite and encourage others to donate during Give Miami Day, the Miami Foundation’s annual 24-hour online giving campaign. The fun-filled event raised a total of $134,091 which will support the Center’s award-winning arts education programs, including AileyCamp Miami, Jazz Roots: Sound Check, Rock Odyssey and Kitty Hawk.
The Center’s Thomson Plaza for the Arts was transformed into a harvest party scene with bales of hay, pumpkins and old-fashioned challenges to spur fundraising efforts. Magic City Opera kicked off the western-themed day with a unique rendition of Oklahoma!, renamed to O Miami! The fundraising activities continued with a croqueta-eating contest followed by Arsht Center President and CEO John Richard as the first target for the pie-in-the-face booth. Additional activities included mechanical bull riding, line dancing, a cornhole tournament and an instrument petting farm. Notable guests included Javier Soto, The Miami Foundation President; Rick Schatz, Miami Foundation Board Chairman; and Alfredo Mesa, Miami Marlins Foundation VP and Executive Director.
