LUDOVICO EINAUDI: ESSENTIAL EINAUDI
Ludovico Einaudi, piano
Balancing film and classical music, the artistry of Italian composer and pianist Ludovico Einaudi puts a premium on melody. At his Arsht Center premiere, he will present an anthology of his greatest successes, including compositions for the films Intouchables, Black Swan and Mommy as well as a compliation of works from his latest album, Elements.
Luminous, emotive, effortlessly lyrical and always supremely refined, the music and performance of Ludovico Einaudi has attracted an ever-growing audience over the last two decades whose diversity and devotion are without parallel. He has released a series of chart-topping albums, sells out the most prestigious concert halls worldwide, composed a string of award-winning film scores, and routinely tops audience polls, becoming an internet phenomenon. With a unique musical alchemy that draws on elements of classical, rock, electronica and world music, he has rendered traditional ideas of genre obsolete and become not only one of the best-known composers in the world but almost certainly the best loved too. Elements, which topped the classical charts in the UK upon its release in 2015, is the highest-charting modern classical album since Henryk Gorecki’s Symphony of Sorrowful Songs peaked at number six in 1992.
Einaudi is the most streamed classical artist in the world. He recently occupied all of the top 10 positions on the iTunes classical singles chart and he has 400,000 followers on Spotify, which is more than Beethoven or Mozart. His fans include Nicki Minaj, Iggy Pop, Ricky Gervais, and pianist Lang Lang.
