KNIGHT CONCERT HALL

TORONTO SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA
Peter Oundjian, conductor
Jan Lisiecki, piano

Program:
JOHN ESTACIO Wondrous Light
BEETHOVEN Piano Concerto No. 4
RIMSKY-KORSAKOV Scheherazade

“This was an orchestra at its most riveting!”
- Toronto Star

Hear Beethoven’s Piano Concerto No. 4 played by the 20-year-old soloist The New York Times calls “a pianist who makes every note count!” Canadian Jan Lisiecki signed an exclusive recording agreement with Deutsche Grammophon when he was just 15, and in 2013 he received the Leonard Bernstein Award at the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival.

Hear one of Canada’s leading institutions play Rimsky-Korsakov’s best-loved work, Scheherazade! Inspired by the Arabian Nights, a collection of West and South Asian folktales that tells the story of the young bride of the Sultan, the music of Scheherazade conjures snake charmers, the sea and the suspense and sensuality of Scheherazade.

Under Peter Ounjian, the Toronto Symphony Orchestra is committed to innovative programming. He has been instrumental to the renaissance of the orchestra with critically acclaimed performances at Carnegie Hall, an annual celebration of Mozart, a New Creations Festival and TSO Live.

Don’t miss Maestro Oundjian leading the Toronto Symphony Orchestra on this incredible evening!
