Intimate, passionate, raw and bewitching, the deep emotions that emanate from flamenco song unite with the intricate fury of dance in a unique performance that will exhilarate audiences with an up-close experience in the Carnival Studio Theater. The audience will be swept away to the Gypsy caves of Andalucia with the stirring rhythms of Flamenco.
Paco del Pozo makes his Miami debut at the Festival. Devoted to the study of Cante Jondo, or deep song of flamenco, he is a master of all the flamenco styles. The great Spanish poet Felix Grande said of Paco del Pozo " he sings with the strength of his youth and the wisdom of an old man". Ismael de la Rosa is pure gypsy, and his singing style is steeped in the heritage of his ancestors. His voice is earthy, passionate, with a refined sensibility, leaving a memorable mark on all who listen to him sing. Ismael was recently in Miami performing at Gala Flamenco, as part of Flamenco Festival USA/Miami 2014 at the Adrienne Arsht Opera house. This will be the first time Ismael performs with Siempre Flamenco at the Festival of Flamenco Song. Festival favorite Javier Heredia, returns for the third time. Javier is a Festero, which is a rare character in flamenco – one who dances, sings, and gets the excitement flowing.
This year’s program will be complemented with a strong offering of dance. Guest artist Jose Barrios returns to the festival for the second time. Jose is principal dancer and choreographer of the Maria Pages Flamenco Dance Company. Siempre Flamenco's artistic director Celia Fonta will also premiere a new choreography for the festival using the famous “Manton de Manila” (large flamenco shawl) in the Solea style. To bring it all together, the festival features great flamenco guitarists, all from Spain, Paco Fernandez (Seville), Paco Fonta (Jaen) and Jose Luis Rodriguez (Huelva).
