“The Best Artist to set foot in the Big Apple since 2001”
– The New York Times
From the legendary Los Farruco dynasty, the first family of Gypsy flamenco dance, Juan Manuel Fernandez Montoya, or “Farruquito,” is regarded as one of the most faithful representatives of flamenco puro. Son of the singer El Moreno and dancer La Farruca, Farruquito is the chief proponent of the unique dance style founded by his grandfather, El Farruco. Farruquito made his Broadway stage debut at age five, starred in Carlos Saura’s film Flamenco at twelve, and was directing his own shows by fifteen. Since then he has devoted his entirety to the preservation and innovation of his beloved art form!
Improvisao is a show that transports us to a traditional and magical universe, a celebration of life, in which the dancer and his musicians are the center of the artistic creation, without any artifice, with improvisation as a leitmotiv. Farruquito explains that Improvisao “is a return to my roots and a sample of what I have learned in this profession. Singing, guitar and dance fused with total freedom to create a different show every day”.
