Knight Masterworks Pre-Concert Talk: Chicago Symphony

Dr. Bruce CarterDr. Bruce Carter is a music composer and researcher, whose work focuses on issues of creativity and the intersections of social justice and arts participation. Since 1998 he has worked at Florida International University and the University of Maryland College Park while publishing research in numerous arts journals. Bruce is currently serving on the National Council on the Arts with a term that expires in 2018. His most recent work includes designing 3D printed instruments that advance string pedagogy and composing Miami the Musical with his co-writer Teresa Cesario. Dr. Carter received a B.M. from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, an M.M. from The Peabody Conservatory of The Johns Hopkins University, and a Ph.D. in Music Education from Northwestern University.
