The John S. and James L. Knight Foundation’s extraordinary giving helped build the Arsht Center and breathed life into the center’s mission to enlighten, educate and engage our community through transformational arts and cultural experiences. The renowned Knight Concert Hall, named for brothers John S. and James L. Knight, is home to performances by such world-class musicians as Yuri Bashmet and Evgeny Kissin, Lang Lang, Itzhak Perlman, Joshua Bell and Midori as part of the Knight Masterworks Season, which has established Miami as a cultural destination for classical music. South Florida’s gospel tradition is celebrated every season in the roof-raising Free Gospel Sundays concert series, presented by Knight Foundation. From delivering the performing arts into the everyday lives of people at malls, airports and other unexpected places through Random Acts of Culture to gathering our community together to watch the simulcasts of two presidential inaugurations, Knight Foundation’s investments in the arts enable the Arsht Center to shape our vibrant sense of place and communal identity.
Led by President and CEO Alberto Ibargüen and Vice President for the Arts Victoria Rogers, Knight Foundation grant making encourages innovation and collaboration while inspiring others to give. Shared cultural experiences at the Arsht Center are an integral part of our lives in Miami-Dade County today because Knight Foundation continues to be a steadfast partner in the arts.
